The first step is to identify what type of glue it is. This will determine what supplies you will need and what cleaning methods will work best. For most glues, a combination of liquid dish soap and white vinegar will do the trick. Start by creating a cleaning solution by mixing a few drops of liquid dish soap with a quarter cup of white vinegar in a bowl of warm water. Soak the stained area in the solution for 10-15 minutes.
Once the fabric has been soaked, take a soft-bristled brush and gently scrub the stain. Be sure to always go with the grain of the fabric to avoid damaging or tearing the material. Rinse the fabric with cold water and repeat the process if necessary.
If the glue is not coming off with the liquid dish soap and vinegar solution, you can try using rubbing alcohol. Saturate the stain with rubbing alcohol and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the stain until it is removed. As with the dish soap and vinegar solution, rinse the fabric with cold water afterwards.
If the stains still remain, you may need to try a more intensive cleaning solution, such as a laundry detergent specifically designed to remove stains. Apply the detergent directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing gently with a soft-bristled brush. Rinse with cold water afterwards.
Once the glue stains have been removed, you can launder the garment as normal. Air drying is recommended since heat may cause glue to set into the fabric. And voila, your flannel should look just like new!
