This is the first step you should try when removing glue from your clothes. Gently dab the stain with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. This should lift the glue from the fabric. You may need to repeat this process until all the glue has been removed. Be sure to test rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous spot first to ensure the fabric won’t be damaged.
To remove glue from synthetic fabrics like polyester, mix equal parts white vinegar and water. Using a clean cloth or sponge, sponge the solution onto glue stain. After a few minutes, blot the area with a clean damp cloth until the glue comes off. You may need to repeat the process until glue is completely gone.
This method works best for glue stains on heavier fabrics, such as denim. Move the hairdryer close to (but not directly on) the fabric. The heat will cause the glue to loosen its grip. Then, take a bar of soap and rub it gently onto the area. Scrub the soap and fabric together until the glue is removed. Once it’s gone, rinse area with cold water.
If you ever have the misfortune of getting glue on your clothes, don’t despair. With a little patience and a few household items, you can easily remove glue and get your garments looking as good as new!
