If you’ve tried to repair something with glue and ended up with a sticky mess on your dobby fabric, it can seem like an impossible task to get it out. Glue is notoriously difficult to remove from fabric since it’s made to adhere, but don’t despair – there are some steps you can take to try and rid yourself of the glue stains.
The first step in getting the glue out is to scrape off any excess. You can use a spoon or butter knife to do this. Be sure to use a gentle, scraping motion so you don’t pull at the fabric too much.
The next step is to apply a solvent to the glue stain. There are many different solvents you can use, such as nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, or white vinegar. Make sure you read the directions on the container before you use it. Apply the solvent with a cotton ball or swab and let it sit for a minute or two.
When solvent has had time to soak into the glue stain, rinse it off with cold water. You may need to repeat this step several times until the glue has been completely removed.
Once you’ve rinsed the fabric, put it in your washing machine. Follow the instructions on care label for best results. If you are worried about setting the stain, you can spot-clean the area with a mild detergent before putting it in machine.
