Step 1: Scrape Away Excess Glue

The first step to cleaning off glue from your cutting board is to take a metal spatula and scrape away as much of the glue as you possibly can. This helps remove large chunks of glue that may be stuck on the board.

Step 2: Use Hot Water and Soap

After your board is free from excess glue, fill your sink with hot water and add a small amount of dishwashing soap to it. Submerge cutting board in soapy water and let it soak for about 15 minutes. After it has soaked, take a sponge and scrub at the glue-stained areas. You should be able to easily remove the remaining bits of glue.

Step 3: Rinse and Dry

Once you've finished scrubbing away the glue, rinse the cutting board with hot water and then dry it off with a clean cloth or a paper towel. Make sure all traces of the glue have been removed before storing the board in a dry place away from heat.

Tips for Avoiding Glue Stains

  • When working with glue, make sure area around your cutting board is covered with something like newspaper or a plastic sheet, that way any spillage will not get onto the board.
  • Be sure to keep any glue containers closed when not in use, and always wash your hands after handling glue.
  • If the glue gets onto board, act quickly and scrape away as much glue as possible before it has time to dry.
