The most important step in removing glue stains from cotton voile is to act quickly. Glue is designed to adhere to fabrics and surfaces, so longer you wait, the harder it's going to be to get out. As soon as you notice glue stain, make sure that you do not rub or wipe it. This will only spread the glue and make it more difficult to remove.
Start by laying paper towels on either side of the glue stain. Gently lay the fabric between the two paper towels and press down firmly. This will help absorb any excess moisture and also lift away some of the glue.
Mix together one part white vinegar with two parts water in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture and then carefully dab the stained area. Allow the vinegar to penetrate the glue for 10-15 minutes. The vinegar will help break down the glue’s adhesive properties.
Once the vinegar has had time to work, take a small amount of liquid detergent onto a stiff bristled brush. Scrub the glue stain gently but firmly until it begins to break apart. Once you have removed as much of the dried glue as possible, rinse the area with cold water.
After the glue has been removed, soak the affected area in a mixture of warm water and laundry detergent. Let the fabric soak for 30 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly. Finally, hang the voile up to air dry.
With these four simple steps, you can easily remove glue stains from cotton voile. But don't forget to act quickly once the glue appears, as this will help make the removal process much easier.
