Steps for Removing Glue Stains from Seersucker Cotton:
- Start by determining what type of glue you’re dealing with. Some glues will require harsher solvents than others.
- If the glue is still wet, try to remove as much of it as possible with a dull knife or spoon.
- For water-soluble glues, like school glue, saturate the stain with cold water and work it into the fibers using an old toothbrush or other soft brush.
- For oil based glues, rub a pre-wash stain remover directly into the stained area. Let the product sit for several minutes before laundering.
- For stubborn stains, moisten the fabric with either white vinegar or rubbing alcohol and set aside for an hour. Afterwards, scrub with a soft brush and rinse with cold water.
- Be sure to test any cleaning solutions on a hidden area of fabric to ensure it won’t damage fabric.
- To prevent any further staining, let the fabric air dry completely before storing.
Tip:
When dealing with glue stains, less is more. Painting on a large amount of cleaner won’t make it work faster, and can actually cause additional staining if not rinsed out thoroughly.
