Materials

Before tackling any glue stain, make sure you have these items:

  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Scouring powder
  • Grease-fighting dish soap
  • Stiff brush

Step 1: Scrape Off Excess Glue

To begin, carefully scrape away any excess glue with your finger or a butter knife. Be careful not to spread the glue around as you scrape.

Step 2: Soak the Fabric

Next, create a soapy solution using the liquid laundry detergent. Submerge the fabric in the soapy mixture and let it soak for 30 minutes.

Step 3: Apply the Scouring Powder

Once the fabric has soaked, sprinkle a generous amount of scouring powder onto the affected area. Rub the powder into the fabric using a stiff brush in circular motions. This will help break down the glue and lift the stain.

Step 4: Rinse

After vigorously brushing the fabric, rinse the area with warm water to remove any soap residue and scouring powder.

Step 5: Apply Dish Soap

Create a sudsy mixture with the grease-fighting dish soap. Rub the mixture onto any remaining glue stains and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, launder the fabric in the washing machine as normal.
