Glue stains on chinos range from the minor annoyance of a dab of adhesive to majorly unsightly blotches. No matter the size or shape, you can use these steps to save your clothing from disaster.

Step 1: Scrape Off Any Loose Pieces

The first step is to carefully scrape away any loose pieces of glue that may be visible. Use an old credit card or similar tool to gently scrap and remove excess glue. If the glue is crusted and difficult to remove, move onto the next step.

Step 2: Use a Clean Cloth to Blot/Saturate the Stained Area

Next, use a clean cloth to soak up the glue stain. For light stains, saturate the area with stain remover or rubbing alcohol and let sit for a few minutes. If the stain is more serious, then try using a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and hot water. Scrub the stained area gently and then rinse with cold water. If stain persists, try repeating this process one or two more times.

Step 3: Apply Laundry Detergent and Rinse

Once you’ve blotted and saturated area, it’s time to apply a laundry detergent or other enzyme-based cleaning product. Rub the detergent into the stained area and then allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes. Afterward, rinse the chinos with cold water and hang them up to dry.

Following these steps will help you to remove those pesky glue stains from your chinos. With a bit of patience and elbow grease, your favorite pair of trousers can be as good as new!
