Removing Glue From Chiffon Fabric Step-by-Step

  1. Start by examining the glue stain. If it is hard or dry, try to chisel off as much as possible.
  2. Dampen a soft cloth with warm water and start gently rubbing the glue away.
  3. For more difficult glue stains, make a paste made of equal parts baking soda and water. Apply it to the glue stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Take a clean, soft cloth and gently rub the glue stain in a circular motion. The paste should help remove the glue and any residue.
  5. Once the glue is removed, rinse the fabric with cool water to remove baking soda paste.
  6. Use a cold-water setting on your washing machine, and gentle detergent, to wash the item.
  7. Let the item dry completely before inspecting the glue stain.

Cleaning Glue Stains Without a Washing Machine

  1. Place the chiffon item on a flat surface.
  2. Mix two teaspoons of liquid laundry detergent with one tablespoon of white vinegar and one cup of warm water.
  3. Using a soft cloth, dip it in the mixture and dab some onto the stained area.
  4. Gently rub the fabric together and work the detergent into the fabric.
  5. Keep rubbing the glue stain gently until it fades.
  6. Rinse the chiffon fabric with warm water and lay it flat to dry.

How to Prevent Glue Stains on Chiffon

  • Always use a hot glue gun when working with chiffon.
  • Make sure the fabric is taut and secure when gluing.
  • Keep the glue gun moving to spread the heat evenly.
  • Be very careful not to touch the hot glue with your fingers.
