Before you begin trying to remove the glue stain, it is important to make sure fabric can handle the treatment. Test the area of the fabric with glue stain by applying a small amount of rubbing alcohol or laundry detergent. If the fabric passes, the glue stain can be treated without fear of damaging the fabric.
Once you’ve established the fabric can withstand the cleaning process, use a cotton swab to apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol or laundry detergent directly to the glue stain. Gently blot the stain with the swab to help break up glue particles.
Once the glue is mostly removed, rinse the fabric with cold water to get rid of any remaining glue particles. This is especially important if you’ve used rubbing alcohol to help dissolve the glue stain.
After you’ve attempted to remove the glue from the fabric, it is important to treat the fabric with a stain remover. This will help ensure the stain does not reappear. Choose a stain remover specifically designed for fabrics like Chantilly lace, which is delicate and prone to damage.
Once fabric has been treated with a stain remover, lay it out on a towel and allow it to air dry completely. Once the fabric is dry, examine it to make sure stain is completely gone and the fabric looks as good as new.
