What You'll Need

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Clean cloth
  • Stain remover
  • Ammonia-based cleaner*
  • Laundry detergent powder of your choice
  • Soft bristled brush

Step by Step Guide

  1. Before attempting any method, check care label of your blouse. If it is labelled as ‘dry clean only’, then take it to a professional dry cleaner.
  2. Blot the glue with a clean, damp cloth. Try not to rub the stain, as this can spread the glue further.
  3. Create a mixture of 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and 2 cups of warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and dab the glue stain.
  4. Alternatively, you can apply a pre-made stain remover to glue stain. Follow the instructions given on the remover bottle and then dab the stained area with a soft cloth.
  5. If the stain persists, mix 1 tablespoon of ammonia-based cleaner with 2 cups of water. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture and dab it onto the stain. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes and then rinse off with clean water.
  6. Finally, wash the blouse in a washing machine with laundry detergent powder. Rinse it with cold water and hang it up to dry.

Precautions to Take

  • Always test the stain remover or ammonia-based cleaner on a hidden area of blouse to make sure it does not damage the fabric.
  • When blotting the glue, never rub it as this may spread the glue further.
  • Do not use hot water, as this may set glue stain.
  • Be careful when using the soft bristled brush, as it might damage fabric.
