Before attempting to remove the glue stain, you’ll need to identify what type of glue was used to make sure you’re using the correct cleaning approach. If the glue is water-soluble, you'll need to pretreat the stain with a little dab of white vinegar. If it’s an oil-based glue, use liquid dishwashing detergent. Let the cleaning solution or vinegar sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Once the stain has been pretreated, you should spot treat the area with a commercial pre-wash spray or a homemade mixture of three parts white vinegar and one part water. Allow the solution to soak in for about 15 to 30 minutes.
When spot treatment is complete, launder the item according to the care instructions on the garment's tag. Make sure water temperature is appropriate for kind of fabric you’re washing. When wash cycle is finished, check to make sure the stain is gone. If not, repeat the steps above for stubborn glue stains.
