Take a cotton swab and dampen it with isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol. This is one of the best methods for pre-treating a foundation stain on wool. Dab at the area with the swab until as much of the foundation as possible is removed.
Once pretreated, you can machine wash the garment in cold water with a gentle detergent. If the garment is delicate, it may be best to instead hand wash it in cold water with a mild detergent. Always avoid using hot water as this could cause the foundation stain to set into the fabric.
Try pretreating the stain with a liquid laundry detergent or stain remover, just be sure to test it on an inconspicuous area first. Rub the solution into stained area and let it sit for about ten minutes.
Once the stain is gone, tumble dry the garment on the lowest setting. If the stain remains, it may be necessary to repeat the process again.
Once everything is clean, you can use a bit of a lanolin wool polish to help condition the wool fabric and bring out its natural sheen.
