Before you begin cleaning foundation stain, test the area with a clean cloth. Put some water on the cloth and lightly dab at the stain. If the color of the tie doesn't bleed or run onto the cloth, you can proceed to the next step.
Use a dry cleaning solution, such as Resolve or Carbona, and apply a small amount directly onto the foundation stain. Gently rub solution into material and let it sit for a few minutes.
Once the solution has had time to work, use a clean cloth or sponge to blot the area. Do not rub or scrub the material, as this may cause damage to the fibers.
Once you have blotted area, rinse the tie thoroughly with cold water. Make sure to rinse until all detergent is gone.
After rinsing, hang the tie up to dry. Avoid using a clothes dryer as this may damage the fibers and shrink the material.
