Voile is a type of lightweight fabric that is similar to muslin or gauze. It has an open weave with a light texture, and is often used to make curtains, sheers, and other light garments. Because of its delicate nature, it can be difficult to clean, making it important to know the best techniques for removing foundation stains.
Before you start cleaning the voile, you'll need to pre-treat the stain. The best way to do this is to mix together ¼ teaspoon of detergent and a few drops of water, and then rub it directly onto the stain. Leave the mixture on the voile for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
After pre-treating the stain, you'll need to hand wash voile with a gentle detergent. Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water and add in the detergent. Submerge voile in the soapy water and gently agitate it for 5-10 minutes. When you're finished, rinse the voile thoroughly with cold water.
If you don't want to hand wash the voile, you can machine wash it instead. Make sure to use the delicate cycle and a mild, low-sudsing detergent. Also, avoid using hot water or a harsh bleach, as this can damage the voile fabric. Once cycle is finished, hang voile to dry or machine dry it on a low heat setting.
