Trench coats are a wardrobe staple that you can wear all year round. They are also notorious for attracting makeup stains. Foundation makeup residue can get embedded into the fabric and leave behind unsightly marks.

Fortunately, there is a simple solution to remove foundation makeup from these coats. All you need is some laundry detergent, a clean cloth, and a few minutes of your time.

Step 1: Start by blotting the stain with a clean cloth to absorb as much of the foundation stain as possible. Be sure to use a light touch and do not rub the fabric as this may spread the stain further.

Step 2: Once the excess stain has been removed, spray a small amount of laundry detergent directly onto the stained area. Allow the detergent to sit for several minutes so it can penetrate the fabric and break up stain.

Step 3: Now use a damp cloth to gently scrub away at stained area in circular motion. This will help loosen the foundation stain and remove it from the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse the stained area with clean water and then blot it dry with a clean cloth. The stain should be gone but if it persists, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain is completely gone.

Once the foundation stain is removed, hang the trench coat in a well ventilated area to let it air out and dry completely. Once it is completely dry, your trench coat should look good as new!
