Taffeta is a delicate, smooth fabric mainly used for dresses, gowns and quilts. It’s usually made of silk, wool, rayon or polyester. This fabric is slightly stiff, so it may be more susceptible to absorbing oily and waxy substances like foundation.
Before embarking on cleaning process, it’s important to pre-treat the stain. If the foundation stain is still fresh, lightly blot with a damp cloth or sponge to remove as much of foundation as possible. Then, let it dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
When the area is dry, start the cleaning process. Begin by combining two teaspoons of a mild, nonionic detergent with one cup of warm water. Get a clean cloth or sponge and dip it in the detergent mixture. Remove any excess liquid and dab the stained area using gentle circular motions. Then, rinse off the detergent solution with clean water and let the item air-dry.
