Start by dampening the stained area of your sock with cold water, and then apply a little dish soap or pre-wash stain remover directly to affected area. Rub the soap into the sock gently, and let it sit for about five minutes.
Once the soap has had time to work its magic, put your socks in the washing machine. Use the hottest water setting that’s safe for the fabric of your socks. Add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to the washing cycle – this helps to break down the makeup stains. Wash the socks according to the care instructions listed on the label.
After washing the socks, inspect the area for any remaining makeup stains. If necessary, pour a small amount of white vinegar onto the stained area. Gently dab or rub with a clean, dry cloth until the stain has been removed.
Finally, leave your socks to air dry. Hang them up or lay them flat on a drying rack. Avoid putting your socks in dryer, as the heat will set the stains, making them harder to remove.
Removing foundation stains from your socks doesn’t have to be difficult. With just a few simple steps, you can get your socks looking good as new in no time. Just remember to pre-treat the socks before washing, spot clean any remaining stains, and let them air dry for best results.
