What You Need
- White vinegar
- A laundry detergent like Tide or Cheer
- Baking soda
- An old toothbrush
Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stained Area
Start by pre-treating the stained area with a solution of one part white vinegar to four parts water. Soak a cotton ball in the mixture and dab it onto the stain. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
Step 2: Wash the Shirt
Fill the washing machine with warm water and add a generous amount of detergent. Place the shirt in the wash and let it go through one complete cycle.
Step 3: Check Stain
Once washing cycle is complete, take the shirt out and check to see if the stain is still there. If it’s still visible, move on to the next step.
Step 4: Make a Pastelike Mixture
Mix together two parts baking soda and one part water. It should be thick but spreadable. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes.
Step 5: Scrub the Stain
Once paste has had time to do its job, use an old toothbrush to scrub the stain until it starts to disappear. Finally, give the shirt another wash in machine and hang it up to dry.
