Baking soda has natural cleaning power when combined with ingredients such as soap and vinegar. For a foundation stain, mix two tablespoons of baking soda with half a cup of liquid detergent. Add this paste to a quart of warm water and stir until everything is dissolved. Dip a cloth into the mixture and apply it to the stained area of your scrub top – let it sit for up to twenty minutes. Rinse area with warm water to remove the paste before laundering scrub top as normal.
If foundation stain is still visible after treatment with baking soda, give lemon juice a try. Make a paste with three parts lemon juice and one part sea salt. Use a soft-bristled brush to apply the paste to the stained area. Let it sit for thirty minutes before rinsing it away with cold water. Then launder as usual.
Vinegar is another natural cleaning agent that is great for scrub tops. Make a paste with equal parts vinegar, liquid detergent, and baking soda. Apply paste to stained area and gently rub it in with a soft-bristled brush. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Launder as usual.
For stubborn foundation stains, ammonia and soap can help. Mix one part ammonia with four parts liquid detergent and apply the solution to stained area. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then rise away with cold water before laundering as usual.
Foundation stains can be a hassle to remove from scrubs. However, with the right cleaning solutions and methods, you can easily get rid of them. Try baking soda and soap, lemon juice, vinegar and soap, or ammonia and soap to make your scrubs look like new again.
