Firstly, you need to identify the fabric as natural or synthetic. If the item is made of natural fibers like cotton, linen, silk, wool, etc., then you should use mild detergents to clean stain instead of bleach and harsh chemicals. Start by pre-treating the area with a bit of liquid dishwashing detergent or laundry detergent solution and let it sit for five minutes. Next, start rubbing area gently with a soft brush or cloth. Make sure to not apply too much pressure, because this can make the stain go deeper into fabric. Finally, rinse off the area and air dry the scarf or other delicate fabric clothing item.

If your clothing item is made of synthetic fibers like polyester and acrylic, then use a small amount of diluted bleach to remove the foundation stain. Start by mixing ¼ cup of chlorine bleach in one gallon of warm water. Then, carefully dip the stained area in the solution and let it soak for five minutes. Next, rinse off the area and then wash it with a mild laundry detergent in cold or lukewarm water. Finally, hang the clothing item outside and let it dry in the sun.

Remember to always check the item label before starting any cleaning process. It's also best to treat foundation stains as soon as possible, so they don't set into the fabric.
