Once you spot a foundation stain on your piqué clothing, the first step to take is to pre-treat stain. You can do this by combining equal parts laundry detergent and water in a bowl or container. Dishwashing liquid is a good alternative as well.
Dip a clean, white cloth into the mixture and squeeze out any excess liquid. Gently blot the stain with the damp cloth. Do not rub the stain as this could cause the fabric to pill. Keep repeating this process until the stain is visibly lighter.
After pre-treating the stain with the laundry detergent, transfer the clothing into the washing machine. Set the machine to a delicate cycle and add a small amount of laundry detergent. Avoid using bleach or any other harsh chemicals as this could damage the fabric.
Once the cycle is finished, remove the clothing from the washer and check to see if the stain is still visible. If it is, repeat the pre-treat process before re-washing the clothing.
When removing the clothing from the washing machine, shake off any excess water. Then, hang the clothing up on a drying rack or clothesline and allow it to air dry. Do not put the clothing in the dryer as heat could set in the stain.
Once the clothing is dry, check to see if the foundation stain is still visible. If it is, repeat steps 1 and 2 until the stain is completely gone.
By following these simple steps, you should easily be able to remove foundation stains from piqué fabric without damaging it. If the stain is particularly stubborn, it is best to seek professional help as they have the necessary equipment and products to remove more difficult stains.
