No one wants to deal with foundation stains on their clothing, but they happen! And when it’s one of your favorite Michael Kors pieces, it can be especially frustrating. To make your life a bit easier, here are some helpful tips to clean foundation stains from your Michael Kors items:

1. Scrape off Excess Foundation

Before you start treating the stain, first scrape off any excess foundation that may be present. Use a butter knife or spoon to gently remove it from the fabric. Be sure to avoid spreading the stain further.

2. Pretreat the Stain

Once the excess foundation is removed, pretreat the remaining foundation stain with an appropriate stain remover product. If necessary, rub product into the stain with a cloth or toothbrush. Allow the product to sit for five minutes before washing. Make sure you read and follow the instructions for use carefully.

3. Wash the Item

Next, wash the item in a washing machine. Use cold water and either a gentle or regular cycle, depending on instructions on your garment's care label. Add a mild detergent to the machine—avoid using bleach as this can further damage the fabric. When washing delicate fabrics, consider using a mesh laundry bag to protect them.

4. Dry the Item

Once the washing cycle is finished, allow the item to air dry. Do not put it in a clothes dryer as heat may fix the stain permanently in the fabric.

5. Repeat Steps 2-4

If the foundation stain is still visible after the washing cycle, repeat steps 2 through 4. You may need to repeat this process several times until the stain is removed completely.

Additional Tips

  • Don’t forget to check the care label of your Michael Kors item for washing instructions.
  • Avoid using hot water as it can cause the stain to set in the fabric.
  • Be sure to pretreat stain before washing.
  • If the stain persists, take item to a professional dry cleaner.
