Foundation makeup can cause serious damage to purses if left to set in. This is especially true with canvas bags, suede, and other fabrics that are porous. Fortunately, there are several ways to remove foundation stains, and most of the ingredients needed to do so are already in your home.
If the foundation stain is still fresh, you can wipe off the product with an ice cube. Ice cubes help to solidify the makeup and make it easier to scrape off with a knife or spoon. After wiping off the foundation, use a soft cloth soaked in warm water to clean off any remaining residue. Finally, dry off the area with a clean cloth.
For older foundation stains that have had time to set, first pour some dry cleaning solvent onto a soft cloth and use it to rub the stain in small circles. Once the solvent has been absorbed, create a mixture of dish soap and warm water and use a clean cloth to work the solution into the stain. Leave the solution to sit for 10 minutes, then wipe off with a damp cloth. If there is still a slight stain, use a clean cloth to dab rubbing alcohol onto the area and continue to rub until the stain has disappeared.
Whether a foundation stain is young or old, patience and the right steps will do the trick and leave your handbag looking like new. With a little elbow grease and the right ingredients, you'll be able to remove foundation stains from your purse without much effort.
