The best way to remove foundation stains from synthetic fibers is by using a mild detergent solution and spot treatment. To start, mix a tablespoon of detergent with a little bit of warm water in a bowl. Test this solution on a hidden part of your hanbok first to make sure it won’t damage the fabric. Afterward, take a sponge or cloth and dampen it with the detergent mixture. Gently blot the stained area with the damp sponge or cloth, taking care not to rub or scrub the fabric as this can cause further damage. Once you’ve done this, rinse the fabric with cold water and spot clean it with a white towel. Finally, let the fabric air dry in a well-ventilated area.
If your hanbok is made out of natural fibers like silk, wool, or cotton, then try using a non-ionic detergent solution instead. In a bowl, mix a tablespoon of non-ionic detergent with some warm water. Test this solution on a hidden part of fabric to make sure it won’t damage it. Then, take a sponge or cloth and dampen it with the detergent mixture. Blot the stained area with the damp sponge or cloth. Rinse the fabric with cold water and spot clean with a white towel. Finally, hang garment in a well-ventilated area to allow it to air dry completely.
Foundation stains can be tough to remove from hanboks. However, using the right cleaning technique and product can make the task much easier. For synthetic fabrics, use a mild detergent solution and spot treatment. For natural fabrics, use a non-ionic detergent solution. Whichever method you choose, always test a small area of fabric first for colorfastness before proceeding.
