Foundation stains on hair ties can be a nuisance and difficult to remove. The last thing we want is for our hair accessories to ruin our carefully applied makeup. Fortunately, some simple steps can help you get rid of the pesky stains without using any harsh chemicals.
Start by completely submerging your stained hair ties in warm water. Let it soak for five minutes. This will help loosen the foundation particles from the fabric.
Once the stain has been softened by water, apply a mild soap or laundry detergent to the affected area. Use either a rag or sponge to rub the soap or detergent gently into the stain. Make sure to use a light circular motion.
After scrubbing in the soap or detergent, rinse the hair ties in clean, warm water. Rinse until all the soap is removed. If necessary, repeat steps 1-3 once more.
If the foundation stain still remains, try treating the area with white vinegar. Use a clean sponge and cover the affected area with the vinegar. Rub the vinegar into the stain until it's fully covered. Let the vinegar sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Once the stain has been removed, lay the hair ties out flat on a dry towel and let air dry. Do not put them in the dryer as this may cause the stain to become worse.
