Whether it’s from a makeup mishap or just wear and tear on the fabric, foundation stains can easily ruin your favorite clothes. But luckily, it’s not a lost cause. With the right combination of cleaning solutions and stain-removing techniques, stubborn foundation stains can be removed from cotton lawn.

Pre-Treating a Foundation Stain on Cotton Lawn

The first step to getting rid of a foundation stain on cotton lawn is pre-treating stain. You can use any mild soap or laundry detergent. Work the soap into the stain with your fingers. Leave it to sit for at least 10 minutes so that soap can penetrate the material.

Using Oxygen Bleach to Remove the Stain

After pre-treating, you can use oxygen bleach to help remove the foundation stain. Make sure you check the garment tag on your clothing to make sure oxygen bleach is safe to use. If it is, mix a solution of one part oxygen bleach and one part cool water. Put the stained area in mixture and let it soak for at least 30 minutes.

Rinsing Away the Stain

Once solution has soaked into the fabric, rinse away the oxygen bleach with cold water. Make sure to check if the stain has fully been removed. If not, you may need to repeat the steps until the stain is completely gone. Once the stain is gone, you can launder the clothing according to the garment tag.
