What You’ll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol or vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Measuring cup
  • Mixing bowl
  • An old toothbrush or cleaning brush

Steps to Remove Foundation Stains from Cotton Denim

  1. Pour a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol into a mixing bowl. Alternatively, you can use white vinegar.
  2. Add a teaspoon of baking soda and stir until it is thoroughly mixed in.
  3. Put a quarter cup of dish soap into the mixing bowl and stir until all of the ingredients are blended.
  4. Using an old toothbrush or a small cleaning brush, apply the mixture to the foundation stain. Be sure to focus on the stained area and don't spread the mixture too much.
  5. Let the mixture sit on the stained area for at least 15 minutes.
  6. Gently scrub the stained area with a soft cloth to remove the foundation stain.
  7. Rinse out the fabric with cold water and let it air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Be sure to do a spot test before applying mixture to the entire stained area to make sure that the fabric won't be damaged.
  • If the foundation stain is still present, repeat steps 1 through 7 until it is completely removed.
  • When you’re done, put the denim in the washing machine and launder it as you normally would.
