Begin by making a mix of cold water and a tablespoon of detergent. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture and gently dab the stain, being careful not to rub it. Make sure you are using a light touch, as rubbing can further push the foundation into the fabric.
There are a variety of spot cleaners available, such as Woolite or Spray ‘n Wash. Follow the instructions on the bottle, and spray the product directly over the stained area. Let cleaner sit on the fabric for about five minutes, and then rinse it off with cool water.
If the stain is still visible, try a grease remover such as Dawn or even a dab of shampoo. Gently massage the solution into the fabric, and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off. Repeat as necessary until the stain is gone.
Getting foundation stains out of a cocktail dress isn’t as hard as it may seem. With a bit of pre-treatment, spot cleaning, and a grease remover, you can quickly have your dress looking as good as new in no time!
