Before washing, pretreat the stained area with a dab of a high quality stain remover. Use an up and down motion to gently massage the stain remover into the fabric and let it sit for about five minutes to give the active ingredients time to work.
Once the stain remover has had a chance to work its magic, you can either hand wash garment or machine wash it in cold water on the gentlest cycle. For best results, look for detergents specifically made for delicate fabrics. If you choose to machine wash, use a mesh laundry bag to help prevent damage to the fabric.
It's important to let your chambray garment air dry. When using a dryer, the heat can set in stains. To avoid this, lay the garment flat on a towel and let it air dry. If wrinkles appear, press them out while garment is still damp.
If after following the steps above the stain isn't completely removed, repeat the process until it is gone. But remember to always take proper care when dealing with delicate fabrics.
