The first step in removing foundation stains from Carrickmacross lace is to identify the type of fabric you’re dealing with. Check labels or explore sections on the web to confirm type of material. Most Carrickmacross lace is a blend of cotton and polyester.

Once you have identified the type of fabric, create a solution of one part dish soap and two parts cold water. Gently agitate the mixture with your hands until it forms suds. Take a clean sponge or cloth and dip it into suds. Blot the stained area with the sponge or cloth and allow it to sit for five to 10 minutes.

Rinse stained area with cold water and blot it dry with a clean cloth. If stain remains, mix one part white vinegar and one part cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and blot the stained area. Allow the area to dry completely, then check to see if the stain is gone. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

If the stain still won't come out, try dabbing the spot with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and wiping it away with a damp cloth. This should help to lighten the stain. Test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it will not discolor the fabric.

Once the stain is gone, press the fabric with a hot iron to help set the fibers in place. Be sure to protect the lace by placing a pressing cloth over the area before you press it.

With these tips, you can easily remove foundation stains from Carrickmacross lace!
