Before you start to clean belt, it’s important to pre-treat stained area. Dab some laundry detergent onto the stain and use your fingers or an old toothbrush to rub it in. This will help lift and loosen the foundation before you begin cleaning.
Once the stain is pre-treated, you can begin to clean it. Fill a bowl with warm water and ½ cup of white vinegar. Soak the belt in the solution for 30 minutes. This should help further break down the foundation stain. After 30 minutes, remove the belt from the solution and rinse it with cold water.
Once you’ve rinsed the belt with cold water, you’ll need to dry it. Place belt flat on a towel and roll it up carefully. Gently press the towel to absorb the excess water. Then, hang belt on a clothesline in the shade or near a fan and let it air dry.
If there are still some stubborn stains remaining, you can try repeating Steps 1-3. If this doesn’t work, you may need to use a stain remover. Read the directions carefully and apply the product according to the instructions before drying the belt again.
