The first step in getting rid of those foundation stains is to scrape away any excess makeup that is still on the bandana. Grab a plastic, non-abrasive utensil like a credit card or a spoon to gently scrape what is left over. This will help the cleaning process later on.
Mix together one part white vinegar and two parts cool water. Take a soft cloth and dampen it with the solution before lightly scrubbing the stained area. You don't want to rub too hard, just use enough pressure to get the solution into the fabric. Let this sit for about 10 minutes.
Put bandana in the washing machine. Use cold water and a mild detergent, setting the wash cycle to gentle. As the cycle is running, add a tiny amount of oxygen bleach to the load. This will help to brighten the color of bandana as well as remove any lingering foundation stains.
After the wash cycle has finished, take the bandana out and place it on a drying rack. Leave it to air dry - do not put it in dryer as this could set the stains.
