The best way to remove foundation stains from metal accessories is with an old toothbrush and some dish soap. Take the toothbrush and work dish soap into the stain in circular motions. If teeth of your brush are too stiff, you can use a soft cotton cloth instead. Once the stain has been worked in, let the soap sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Finish by drying the metal accessory with a clean, dry cloth.
For fabric accessories, a simple mixture of water and white vinegar should do the trick. Start by combining equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle or bowl, then saturate the stained area with the solution. Blot the excess liquid away with a clean cloth. Once excess liquid has been absorbed, rinse the area with warm water and then air dry. To remove any remaining foundation, repeat these steps until the stain is gone.
To remove foundation stains from leather accessories, start by wiping down the affected area with a damp cloth. Once the stain has been removed, use a leather cleaner to finish job. Make sure to test the cleaner on a hidden area of the accessory first. If it doesn’t discolor the leather, apply the cleaner directly to the stain and wipe away the excess. Finish by dabbing area with a damp cloth and allowing it to air dry.
Foundation stains can be difficult to remove from your favorite accessories, but with right tools, it doesn’t have to be a challenge. Whether it’s metal, fabric, or leather, there’s a simple method that you can use to get rid of those pesky foundation stains.
