Removing Fresh Feces Stains

Cleaning fresh feces stains is the simplest way to tackle the problem. First, try to handle the stain as quickly as possible. Begin by using an old spoon or butter knife to scrape away solid wastes. Once the solid material has been removed, dab the area with a clean cloth or paper towels. This will help to dry up any remaining wet residue.

Next, make a solution of 1 part enzyme detergent and 4 parts cold water. Working from the outside of the stain inwards, start scrubbing the affected area gently with this mixture. Rinse the stained area thoroughly afterwards for best results.

Treating Dried Feces Stains

For dried feces stains, moisten the area with cold water and soak it for around half an hour. Then, use a brush to loosen and break up any stuck-on particles before rinsing it off. Again, make a solution of 1 part enzyme detergent and 4 parts cold water and scrub the stain with it. Leave this solution on the stain for 15 minutes before rinsing again.

Finally, pre-treat stained area with a laundry stain remover and wash the garment in the hottest water possible. This will usually be around 140°F (60°C). Use a laundry detergent that contains oxygen bleach, as this is more effective at lifting stains than regular bleach. You may need to repeat the process if the stain isn’t completely gone after the first wash.
