If the stain is fresh, use moistened paper towels to blot it up as soon as possible. You can also use a damp washcloth to try and wipe away the stain. Gently wipe the area without rubbing it too harshly, and make sure to change the paper towels or washcloth regularly to avoid contaminating the area with more bacteria.
Make a solution of one quart of warm water and 1/4 teaspoon of mild dishwashing detergent or soap, such as Dawn. Using a clean sponge or cloth, gently blot the solution onto the stain and blot it back off with a separate cloth.
Rinse away the soapy solution by blotting clean water onto the affected area with a clean sponge or cloth. Blot up the water with a separate dry cloth and change cloths frequently to avoid spreading bacteria.
If the stain hasn't been completely removed yet, you can try applying some hydrogen peroxide or chlorine bleach on it. Be sure to use protective gloves when handling any chemicals and wear safety glasses when pouring them. Only use a very small amount and never mix these two products together. Apply the solution to affected area with a clean cloth and let it sit for a few minutes before blotting it up with a dry cloth.
If all else fails, you may need to resort to using a professional cleaning product. Be sure to read the directions and warnings carefully before using any of these products. You may want to speak to a professional window cleaner for advice on the best way to proceed.
