Once accident has occurred, it can be tempting to try scrubbing the stain right away, but this should be avoided because doing so can cause the stain to spread. Instead, reach for a clean cloth, such as a towel, paper towel, or cloth diaper, and dab the affected area gently to soak up as much of the mess as possible.
Once you have blotted the area, next step is to sprinkle some baking soda over the stain. This will help to draw the moisture and odor out of fabric. Allow the baking soda to sit for about 15 minutes before proceeding.
Once the baking soda has had a chance to work its magic, apply a stain-removing solution to the area. Be sure to check label of the product to make sure it’s suitable for the type of material the underwear is made from. Once you’ve applied solution, allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
After allowing the stain-removing solution to sit for 10 minutes, rinse the fabric with cold water. This will help to clear away the baking soda and any remaining residue from the stain. It’s best to avoid using hot water, which can cause the stain to set in.
Once the stain has been treated and rinsed, launder the garment as normal. Choose a detergent that is mild and gentle on the fabric and make sure to follow the laundering instructions on the clothing’s tag. The important thing is to make sure no residue from the stain remains before drying the item.
