Step 1: Don’t Panic

First, don’t freak out. Feces may seem like an impossible stain to remove, but there are a few things you can do to get rid of it.

Step 2: Absorb the Excess

If the feces is wet, first use some paper towels to blot up the excess moisture. Blotting will remove as much of the liquid as possible and make further cleaning easier.

Step 3: Pretreat Stain

Next, pretreat stain with a detergent or prewash stain remover. This will help break down the stain and make it easier to remove in wash. Work the pretreatment into the fabric with your fingers and let it soak for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Add Detergent

Once pretreatment has had time to soak in, add some detergent to the wash and launder the t-shirt as usual. Check the t-shirt after laundering and do a quick visual inspection of the stain. If the stain is still present, repeat steps 2 to 4.

Step 5: Use Bleach if Necessary

If the stain is still not completely gone after several attempts, you can try using a bleach solution to get rid of it. Make sure to read the care instructions on your t-shirt before using bleach, as some fabrics may not be suitable. If it is safe to use bleach, mix one part chlorine bleach with five parts water and apply this solution to the affected area. Let the bleach sit for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cold water and check for any remaining stains.

Step 6: Set the Stain and Launder Again

If the stain is still visible, set the stain by treating the affected area with white vinegar. Soak area in the vinegar for 10 minutes, then rinse with cold water. You can then launder the t-shirt again and check for any remaining stains. Repeat Steps 2 to 6 until the stain is completely gone.

Step 7: Air Dry T-Shirt

Once the stain is gone, air-dry the t-shirt instead of using a dryer. Air-drying will ensure that the stain doesn’t return.
