Step 1: Scrape off Excess Feces

The first step in cleaning a feces stain is to scrape off any excess using a spoon or blunt knife. This will help to minimize the spread of the stain and reduce the amount of scrubbing you will need to do later.

Step 2: Pre-Treat Stain With Soap and Water

Once you’ve scraped off the excess, pre-treat the stain by rubbing a mild soap like dishwashing liquid into the area. Add a bit of water to create a lather, then gently rub and agitate the lather on the stain. Once finished, rinse the soapy residue away with cold water.

Step 3: Apply Stain Remover

Next, apply a stain remover specifically designed to tackle feces stains. Cetaphil laundry detergent and OxiClean are both great choices. Pour cleaner directly onto the stain and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before laundering.

Step 4: Wash Item in Cold Water

Put the item of clothing in washing machine, and select the cold water setting. Consider adding a fabric bleach or oxygen bleach for an extra cleaning boost. Then, hang the clothing to dry. If the stain is still present, repeat these steps until it is gone.
