The key to successfully removing a feces stain is starting off properly by preparing your supplies. Gather following items before beginning:
Start off by putting on your rubber gloves and then use a damp cloth to spot treat the top layer of feces. Don’t rub too hard or you could damage the tights. Once you’ve removed the top layer of the stain, add a few drops of an enzyme-based laundry detergent directly onto the stain.
Now leave the detergent to sit on the stain for up to an hour. This will allow the enzymes to break down the proteins that make up the stain, making them easier to scrub away.
After an hour or so, use a brush to carefully scrub the stain. Be gentle, but still apply enough pressure to remove the broken down proteins. Rinse off the detergent with water and check the stain. If it’s still visible, proceed to the next step.
In a container, mix together equal parts of white vinegar and distilled water. Place tights in the solution and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. The vinegar will help to neutralize any bacteria or odor that’s left after pre-treating the stain.
Once the vinegar solution has soaked into the tights, put the tights in the washing machine and launder them in warm water. If you’re feeling extra cautious, add a scoop of the enzyme-based laundry detergent to the washing machine. Finally, hang tights up to dry in a warm place.
After everything is said and done, take a look at the stain and check for success. Hopefully, it will have been completely eradicated by this simple process!
