The method used to remove feces stains from a tie will depend on the type of fabric the tie is made of. The two most common fabrics are silk and polyester. For silk ties, it is best to use a mild dishwashing liquid solution. Combine a quarter cup of liquid dish soap with two cups of warm water and mix until the soap is fully dissolved. For polyester ties, you can use an all-purpose cleaner or an enzyme detergent.
Once you have decided on the best cleaning solution for your tie fabric, you can start to work on removing stain. Start by laying the tie on a flat surface and lightly spray the area with the cleaning solution. Avoid saturating the tie with too much liquid as this could cause further damage and discoloration. Then, gently scrub stained area with a soft cloth or a brush. Use a circular motion and focus on the stained area only.
After scrubbing the stain, rinse the tie off with warm water. Make sure to rinse off all traces of the cleaning solution. After rinsing off the tie, lay it on a clean towel and use a second towel to blot up any moisture. Hang the tie and let it air dry, or you can lightly press the area with a cool iron and then hang to finish drying.
