Step 1: Remove Excess Solids

Begin by removing as much of the solid matter as possible from the suit. Using a spoon or a dull knife, scrape away any visible residues.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with an Oxi Clean Solution

Mix Oxi Clean with water according to the package instructions. Soak a washcloth in the solution and use it to blot at stained area. Allow the solution to work for several minutes before moving on to next step.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

Rinse the stained area with cold water to remove some of the pre-treatment solution. Do not rub the fabric together or use hot water or harsher detergents at this point, as this can set the stain.

Step 4: Soak in a Vinegar Solution

Combine equal parts vinegar and cold water in a bucket or the sink. Submerge the stained garment in solution for 30 minutes to allow the vinegar to break down proteins and bacteria related to the stain.

Step 5: Wash

Remove the suit from the vinegar solution. Put the garment into the washing machine with cold water and a gentle detergent. Wash the suit on the delicate cycle and dry it afterward, making sure garment is completely dry before wearing it.

Additional Tips

  • When scraping away solid residues, make sure the blade of the spoon or knife is blunted to avoid any accidental tears in the fabric.
  • If the stain persists after using the vinegar solution, try washing it again with a laundry booster product.
  • Dry cleaners may also be able to help with stubborn stains.
