What You Will Need
- Soft-bristled brush or old toothbrush
- Water
- Mild detergent
- Cloth towel
- Leather conditioner (optional)
Steps for Removing Stains
- Using the soft-bristled brush or an old toothbrush, gently brush off any solid particles.
- Mix a small amount of mild detergent with water in a bowl.
- Dampen the cloth towel with the soapy mixture.
- Gently dab the stained area without rubbing or scrubbing the stain. Rubbing or scrubbing may damage the suede.
- Continue dabbing until the stain is no longer visible. If the stain persists, try using a leather cleaner.
- Rinse the cloth towel with water and dab stain until the soap is no longer visible.
- Allow the area to air dry.
- If desired, apply a leather conditioner to the area once it has dried.
Tips for Success
- Don’t let the area dry completely before rinsing away soap. The soap can be difficult to remove if the area gets too dry.
- If stain has already dried on the item, try a commercial leather cleaner or white vinegar.
- Be sure to test any cleaning solutions on a hidden part of the item before cleaning the entire area.
- If the stain persists, take the item to a professional suede cleaner.
