Using either a butter knife and gentle pressure or a spoon, scrape off any excess feces that may still be present on the socks. Be sure not to spread the stain any further. This step is important because it will make next steps easier.
Fill a sink or bucket with very hot water. If you are able to safely add 1/2 cup of bleach to water, do so. Place the stained area in the hot water and let it soak for 15 minutes. This will help to loosen up the stain in preparation for the next step.
Using a soft bristle brush and a mild detergent, gently scrub the stained area. Try to move in circular motions to make sure that you are getting as much of the stain out as possible. Keep scrubbing for about 10 minutes.
Once the stain has been scrubbed, rinse the socks thoroughly in cold water. Do not wring socks because this may cause the stain to spread further. Instead, place the socks between two towels and press down firmly to remove as much of the water as possible. Then, hang the socks to air dry.
If stain is still visible after following the above steps, repeat the process. It may take several repetitions to get rid of the stain completely. Be patient and keep going until the stain is gone.
