Prepare the Stained Sleep Pants

The first step of the process is to launder the pants as you normally would, using warm water and regular detergent. After this first wash, inspect the area to determine if the stains are still visible. If they are, continue with stain removal process.

Apply Detergent and Soap

Next, it's time to tackle the stains! Begin by applying a small amount of neutral detergent, laundry soap, or dishwashing liquid directly to area. Allow the soap to remain on the material for a few minutes before continuing.

Remove Excess Soap

After the soap has had a chance to do its job, rinse the area with warm water until no more soap can be seen. Blot the area with a clean, white cloth to absorb any remaining moisture.

Pretreat the Area

For tougher stains, consider pretreating the area with a commercial stain remover. Follow the directions as directed on the product packaging, or apply a gentle liquid bleach solution. Allow the pretreatment solution to sit on the material for several minutes before rinsing again.

Wash the Sleep Pants

Once the pretreatment is complete, it's time to wash the pants. Wash pants on a warm cycle, using an enzyme-based detergent or a solution of water and bleach. Hang to dry.

Repeat Steps if Necessary

If the stains are still visible after washing, repeat the above steps as necessary. Don't allow the pants to dry before testing as this may cause the stain to set.

Prevent Future Stains

To prevent future stains, it's important to address the source of the mess. Be sure to clean the sleeping area regularly and take measures to ensure that children or pets can't access the area. Additionally, practice good hygiene habits to minimize the risk of accidents.
