The first step to removing a feces stain is to act quickly. As soon as you notice the stain, try to start the cleaning process as fast as possible.
If stained skirt is made from cotton or another natural fabric, you can easily remove the feces with a combination of vinegar, baking soda, and cold water. Begin by saturating the stained area with the vinegar, then sprinkle baking soda over it. Rub the two together until a paste forms. Let the paste sit for about 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water until stain is gone.
If the skirt is made from man-made, synthetic fabric, like polyester, the cleaning process can be a bit more complex. Start by blotting the stained area with rubbing alcohol, then follow up with a laundry detergent specifically designed for synthetic materials. Work detergent into the stain as best as you can, then let it sit for 20 minutes before laundering with cold water.
To prevent future feces stains on your favorite skirts, always keep a few helpful items on hand. Always carry a small spray bottle filled with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water for quick cleaning on the go. Additionally, keep a few baby wipes in your purse or pocket for spot cleaning in case of emergency.
It may also help to invest in a stain-resistant fabric protector like Scotchgard. Many of these protectors are specifically designed for skirts and other clothing items, and will help prevent stains from sticking to your fabric.
