Steps for Removing Feces Stains from Silk Crepe de Chine

  1. Remove as much of the fecal matter as possible by gently scraping or blotting with a disposable paper towel or rag.
  2. Soak a rag in a solution made of 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, a few drops of dishwashing liquid and 1 quart of cold water.
  3. Gently blot the stained area using the soaked rag.
  4. Continue to dab and blot the area until most of stain has been removed.
  5. If the stain persists, make a paste using 3 parts baking soda and one part water.
  6. Apply the paste on the stain and let sit for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Rinse the paste off with cold water.
  8. Soak the area in a solution of 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1 gallon of cold water for 30 minutes.
  9. Wash the silk crepe de chine separately in cold water.
  10. Allow garment to air dry.

Tips and Warnings

  • When washing silk crepe de chine, use a mild detergent and add a small amount of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.
  • Do not to rub, scrub or use bleach when cleaning the silk fabric.
