Step 1: Blot the Stain with a Clean Cloth or Paper Towel

The biggest mistake you can make when cleaning a feces stain is to rub the stain, which can easily spread the bacteria around. Instead, use a clean cloth or paper towel and simply blot the stain. If there’s any excess feces present, use the cloth/towel to absorb as much of it as possible.

Step 2: Treat the Stain with Laundry Detergent

Once you’ve blotted away as much of the excess feces as you can, it’s time to treat the stain with a laundry detergent. Choose the detergent carefully and make sure it’s safe for use on delicate fabrics like silk chiffon. Follow the instructions on the detergent package and apply it to the stain.

Step 3: Allow Detergent to Soak In

Let detergent soak in for at least 30 minutes. Then, use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot out detergent and any remaining feces from the garment.

Step 4: Rinse Out the Detergent and Feces with Cold Water

Using cold water, rinse detergent and any remaining feces out of the garment. Make sure you’re using cold water since hot water can cause the feces to set into the fabric.

Step 5: Air Dry

Once you’ve rinsed out the detergent and feces, dry the silk chiffon garment in a shaded area. If necessary, you can also use a blow dryer on its lowest setting, but be very careful not to heat the garment too much.
