Accidents are bound to happen, but that doesn't make the clean up process any easier. Whether you have a baby or just an overly excited pet, feces stains can often splash up and land on clothing, including shorts. If this happens to you, here are a few steps you can take to get the stains out.

Step One: Blot Stain with Paper Towels

Before you begin to treat the stain, you will want to blot it with a few paper towels to remove as much liquid from the area as you possibly can. Be sure to blot gently and apply pressure while doing so to really suck up the spill.

Step Two: Treat the Stain with a Stain Remover

Once you are done blotting the area, you will want to use a stain remover specifically designed for feces to treat the area. You can apply the product directly to the stain or wet a cloth or sponge and rub the stain with it. Let the product sit for about 5 minutes before continuing on to the next step.

Step Three: Rinse Area with Warm Water

Once the stain remover has had some time to work, rinse the area with warm water and then blot dry with more paper towels. Repeat this process until all of the stain remover is washed away.

Step Four: Launder the Shorts in Hot Water

Once you are done rinsing the area, launder the shorts in hot water with a laundry detergent that is designed to target tough messes. Add a few oxygen bleach capsules to the load to make the colors brighter. It is important to pay attention to the product manufacturer's instructions to ensure the best results.

Step Five: Dry the Shorts

After you have finished laundering the shorts, tumble or air dry them. You may need to repeat the cleaning process if there is still a hint of the stain visible.
