Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

As soon as you notice the stain, pre-treat it. Pre-treating means to dab the stain with cold water and a little bit of detergent. This will help to loosen proteins in the feces and make them easier to get rid of. Do not rub or scrub stain, as that can cause it to spread further.

Step 2: Soak the Shirt

Once you have pre-treated the stain, soak the shirt in cold water. Be sure to use a mild detergent to help loosen the stain. Let the shirt soak for at least thirty minutes. After that, squeeze out the water, but do not try to rub or scrub the stain. This will only make things worse.

Step 3: Wash the Shirt in Hot Water

After soaking in cold water, put the shirt in the washing machine and wash it in hot water. Most fabric types can tolerate hot water, so this should be enough to get rid of any remaining residue from the feces. Always check label of your shirt to make sure recommended temperature for washing it is not lower than hot.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Once shirt is washed, rinse it in cold water and then let it air dry. Again, don't use a dryer, as this could make stain set in. Instead, check the stain regularly and once it has completely disappeared, you can put your shirt in the dryer on the lowest setting.
